·        NSP offers a wide range of programs designed to improve patrolling leadership and instructor skills. An extensive and dedicated volunteer network delivers these programs locally.

·        Through NSP's award-winning Outdoor Emergency Care program, local patrols and other affiliates receive quality instruction on pre-hospital injury assessment and treatment. NSP also develops training for non-medical roles, including toboggan handling, avalanche rescue, mountain host programs, and more.

·        In addition, NSP makes available a wide range of resources, including manuals, videos, and other materials to support NSP education programs. NSP also maintains a lending library of videos and other materials to support area managers and trainers.

·        NSP credentials assure area management and the public that the patroller is a knowledgeable and capable professional.

·        NSP develops and maintains patrol credential programs. This allows patrollers to train and be evaluated in patrolling competencies.

·        A strong NSP presence reinforces the public's perception that trained patrollers mean increased safety on the slopes.

·        NSP keeps current on national trends in snow sports participation and responds to them through regularly updating curriculum and core competencies.

·        NSP partners with other snow sports industry associations and corporate partners to promote snow sports safety to the public. NSP enjoys strong ties to the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI), Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA), National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), and with Snowsports Industries of America (SIA).
